Mortimer Shield Wrap Up
On Tuesday 18th of May, Yr 5\6 went to Tumut to play football. The boys played Tackle with some St Joey’s, Adelong kids. The Girls played League tag. The girls played many teams such as McAuley, Tumut Public School and Tumbarrumba. It was a fun day for everyone.
The girls played well but unfortunately we lost the first game, 1 to 3. We also lost the second game, 2 to 6. We had our first win in our third game 6-1 against All Saints from Tumbarrumba. The Players of the day for St Pats were: Gracie Peterson for the Girls and Locky Eccelston for the boys. For the prize they won a small green football and a West Tigers scarf.
We give a big thank you to Mrs Eccleston for coaching the girls, all parents who drove the Yr 5\6’s to Tumut, the Tumut High School volunteer referees, all teachers who came along to help and to all the girls and boys who participated in the Mortimer Shield day.
From Gracie and Sophie.
On Tuesday the Year 5/6 boys went to Tumut to play in the Mortimer Shield Competition. Eight St Joseph’s Adelong boys joined our team, boosting our numbers. In the first game we played McAuley 1 and won that game 24-10. The second game we played was against Gundagai Public School. A lot of the boys had to go up against their Gundagai Adelong teammates! We lost that game but still played well. In our third game we played Franklin. We also lost that game but everyone was playing to the best of their ability and passing the ball around. The St Pat’s/Joey’s boys made it to the finals to play Tumut Public School. We lost to Tumut Public school but at the end of the day everyone had fun. At the presentation the coach got to pick a player from their team for player of the day. Locky Eccleston got that award. We would like to thank Mr Steve Magnone, Mrs Beavan (from St Joseph’s) and all the parents who drove the team to Tumut.
